Voice of Democracy/Patriots Pen
The Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen Youth Essay programs are considered the jewels in the crown of our post's youth programs. This year's Sonoma Valley participating schools are Sonoma Valley High, St. Francis Solano, and Altimira Middle School. The VOD oral essay awards given at the post level are: First Place $200, Second Place $100, and Third Place $50. Patriot's Pen awards in the same order are $100, $50, and $25. Each program participates at four levels...local post, district, state,
and national with larger award totals at each level for the first place winners.Along with the cash award, each winner receives a medal and certificate. Students participate for a chance at winning the first place national award of a $30,000 scholarship for VOD and a $5,000 Treasury Bond for Patriot's Pen.
